Saving refugees and true democracy

  • There is no single prevailing majority of people with the same opinion on refugees in the West.
  • No matter how many opinion polls are being run – there is no consensus on numbers, composition and procedure of refugee process.
  • Western democracy is based on the rule of majority.
  • If taking refugees is not the will of majority, it is undemocratic. Minority should not rule majority.
  • Minority must not distribute public funds against the will of majority.
  • Refugee process must be funded by private donations rather than taxes.
  • Those who welcome refugees should donate their private money and fund the refugee process.

Refugees is the hot topic at the moment. Some citizens of the Western countries say: “Refugees are welcome”, some say: “Refugees are not welcome”, and some say: “Refugees are welcome but only in certain numbers and of certain religion or ethnicity”. In other words, there is no single prevailing majority of people with the same opinion. There is no consensus on refugees within populations of the West.

Who pays for refugees?

Western democracy is based on the rule of majority. If taking refugees is not the will of majority, it is undemocratic. Minority should not rule majority. Minority must not distribute public funds against the will of majority. Refugee process must be funded by private donations rather than taxes. Those who welcome refugees should donate their private money in order to fund the refugee process.
