Cognitive dissonance of the modern Left. Part I

cognitive dissonance

Cognitive dissonance is one of the most disturbing psychological states. The solution comes either in a form of development of irrational maladaptive behavior or complete change of belief system on the subject.

Look at the picture below. It depicts Islamic mob following Sharia Law by throwing homosexuals off the roofs of tall buildings and then stone them if they are still alive. It is normal practice in Muslim societies.

gay off the roof

The picture below depicts a demonstration by homosexuals in support of Islam and Islamic law. Yes, that very Islam that dictates throwing these very people off the roofs of tall buildings for being homosexual.
gays against islamophobiaSuch irrational beliefs can be challenged by absurd suggestions based on presentation of these beliefs as rational and call for action based on those beliefs. This technique is called UBSRD. Example: LGBT movement unites with Islam because Islam is another persecuted minority. All the evidence that gays are being persecuted and killed in countries with Muslim majority are no more than Jewish propaganda and exaggeration. Representatives of LGBT movement are planning to travel to Iran, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to organize LGBT marches in solidarity with Islam. This action will definitively prove that Islam is tolerant and not violent towards LGBT.

There are two expected outcomes of this UBSRD challenge. First possible outcome is that the person who experience cognitive dissonance in regards to Islam being cruel and violent towards gays will say: “This is an absurd. The representatives of LGBT will be hanged the same day they arrive to Iran!” The state of cognitive dissonance will be extinguished, in this case, with the person n longer holding an irrational belief that Islam is tolerant and not violent towards LGBT.

Anther possible outcome is that the person who believes that gays and Islam should unite in solidarity will try to continue rationalizing his / her belief. In that case, this person will look so absurd that others are likely to develop or re-enforce rational belief that Islam is violent towards LGBT.

Humor: application of UBSRD technique at workplace:)
